Some blog love on this very cold (but extremely picturesque) Friday in Amsterdam. Well Spent, a men's fashion blog all about hipster fashion labels that care about people and the planet. I particularly love their weekly feature: "Instead of Rent". This photo is from their 'Instead of Rent' December selection :-) Well Spent is also on twitter and facebook.

This controversial graphic from 'direct-to-consumer' e- tailer' Everlane posted on their Tumblr has caused quite a buzz online recently! Lots of people (especially those from the clothing industry) see it as a massive oversimplification of how to sell clothes. And more importantly, it seems to completely discount two of the most important aspects of the industry: the environmental cost of fashion and the ethical principle of making sure people get a fair wage.

One of my favourite fashion blogs: Well Spent wrote about this too and it stirred up a lot of commentary. Have a read through the comments section of their blog post for some very insightful thoughts.

This is a piece of furniture you could actually encourage children to draw on :-) Designed by Heikki Ruoh for Showroom Finland (who have some other cardboard furniture items too), these "Kenno" cardboard childrens' chairs are very recyclable, light and beautiful. Plus they're made using water-based adhesives instead of glue or screws.

This powerful photographic series from Mandy Barker kind of blew me away. It's called 'Soup' and it documents debris salvaged from beaches all over the world. Mandy made the project after learning about the gigantic mass of garbage floating around the northwest Pacific Ocean called the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.

Anyone on the look out for quality furniture made with love and attention? If so, my advice is to check out Handmade in Fryslân by the Dutch company Slow Wood. The Company's founder Christien Starkenburg (also on twitter) believes in building pieces that have a raw natural elegance and a low impact on our planet. And I love her motto: Enjoy living in the slow lane :-)
