I'm very excited about new brand Hiut Denim. Based in Wales, England, this brand is unlike many clothing brands out there, let alone jeans, because it is built around an entire community of craftsmen and women.
After the local jeans factory in the small Welsh town of Cardigan closed down (a factory that had employed 400 out of 4.000 in the town). Hiut Denim founders, Clare and David Hieatt decided that they couldn't let all that tradition and craftsmanship go to waste. They got investors on board, re-hired the factory's Grand Master tailors, came up with some creative ideas of their own (check History Tag) and launched their fantastic new brand, Hiut Denim. The jeans look beautiful and there's an an organic cotton range too (of course). I'm extremely impressed with everything about this brand so far, their story, branding and approach on how to create a sustainable business. Hiut Denim is definitely one to watch for the future...
Hiut Denim (also on twitter) is available to buy online and they ship internationally. Although they currently only have 2 collections for men :-( we're told that in time the women's denim range will be available. Yay!
