What a simple but wonderfully charming idea! 10% of farmer harvests in The Netherlands get left behind on the fields - students from Eindhoven's design school thought that was a huge waste and decided to do something about it... The result was Food Combers (Voedsel Jutters in Dutch).
Food Combers have designed a special bag and membership system (€35 per year) entitling people to visit a networks of farmers' fields and hunt for leftover veggies! The project began in the south of the country (Brabant) but they're now approaching farmers around Amsterdam. Anyone fancy a trip outdoors :-) Check out the Food Combers blog for more details on upcoming events.
