Livable cities award

I was invited to the Philips Livable Cities Award Dinner last night - an international competition aimed at improving the lives of people living in cities - and it was quite an experience. We chatted and dined inside Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum surrounded by stunning masterpieces by Dutch painters.

I had inspirational conversations with the United Nation's head of sustainable design, Philips' own chief of design, and I met the Associate Editor of one of my favourite magazines Monocle.

The winners of the awards were the highlight of my evening though. The overall winner was this Rain Water Aggregation Project but there were lots of truly inspirational people and ideas. Have a look at the other finalists' initiatives here.
