Tonight is about fashion and scent

Couch potatoes! Don't call it a day already. Lots of stuff to do tonight. Let's talk about human sweat, odors and soap making. Or about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the industry is having on our world. Yep, nobody's going home early today.

The True Cost - second screening
This groundbreaking documentary film pulls back the curtain on the untold story and asks us to consider, who really pays the price for our clothing? Filmed in countries all over the world, from the brightest runways to the darkest slums, and featuring interviews with the world's leading influencers including Stella McCartney, Livia Firth and Safia Minney (Strawberry Earth Academy fellow and owner and founder of fashion brand People Tree), The True Cost takes us on a journey around the world and into the lives of the many people and places behind our clothes.

BioTalk: sweat, odor and soap
For the upcoming Biotalk three speakers will elaborate on their unusual approach to cosmetics. Pei-Ying Lin & Helena Shomar zoom in to the process of saponification and use dead organic matter to create soap (Living Ashes). Wander Eikelboom and Mark Meeuwenoord recreate the last living minutes of famous persons by using scent (Famous Deaths) as an immersive experience. And Paulien Routs developed SOAK, a prototype textile coating that can provide it's wearer with information on how much sweat is lost and also give an indication of the substance composition.
