Three documentaries you should see this weekend

The last couple of days Amsterdam explored the possibilities of design during our Strawberry Earth Academy seminar and the two-day conference What Design Can Do. Good news for all connaisseurs out there: De Balie is presenting a WDCD Film Festival this weekend. Expect documentaries that prove design can change, improve, inspire, engage and… solve. Our picks:

  1. Print the legend
A documentary about “the next Industrial Revolution": 3D printing. Print the Legend follows the people and companies that bring 3D printing into our lives. It captures a technology in the midst of its 'Macintosh Moment' and shows what it takes to live the American Dream in any field.

  2. Growing cities
A movie about urban farming in America. The documentary follows people who are challenging the way the US of A grows and distributes its food. Can they revitalize their cities? Is it possible to change the way America eats?

  3. Maker
This documentary looks into the current Maker Movement in America. This new wave of Do-It-Yourself and Do-It-Together culture is powered by enthusiasm and the advent of new technologies.
