3D printing with organic matter

A bioplastic made of dead beetles? Well, yes. Beetles die after laying its eggs and their shields happen to contain a polymer. Of this polymer, Aagje Hoekstra has made the 'insect plastic' Coleoptera. On Thursday, 12 March 2015 we look into the alternatives for plastics and new ways to create 3D objects out of living matter during Biotalk at Mediamatic in Amsterdam. Find out about the many qualities in organisms that can be applied to new production methods and material development.
