5 x new stuff in Utrecht

5 x new stuff in Utrecht

Because January isn't the most entertaining month of the year, we listed five new initiatives in Utrecht that are worth paying a visit this weekend. Places where you can get yourself a flat white, sweet potato salad, vinyl record or 3D-printed necklace. Oh: and a big bag of organic fries, because it's weekend and we don't care.

Lunch time! How about a smoked mackerel sandwich with red beet and oregano? Or a mushroom-lentil-burger with grilled zucchini and rocket? For big eaters Gys also offers gado gado and an eggplant schnitzel. All meals are organic, locally grown and freshly made. Take away is possible too.

Design x craft x innovation. MCHL is a new design shop and one of the first stores in The Netherlands with their own 3D-printer. It's very centrally located and you can buy all kinds of 3D-printed products: small furniture pieces, interior items and jewelry. Hard to leave empty-handed.

Carrot-cardamom cake anybody? Or a slice of passion fruit pie? At BROEI, a beautifully decorated cafe, you can enjoy a second lunch and the most delicious pies and cakes. Next to organic food and drinks, BROEI also offers a 'wall of frame' where upcoming artists can showcase their soon-to-be masterpieces.

Swordfish & Friend

Hurrah: there's a new record shop in town! Swordfish & Friend sells Crosleys and a big collection of vinyl. It's a store and living room in one, where you can also get your daily dose of fashion and design. Psst: they even sell the winter jackets of WINTERVACHT, made from old blankets!

Frietwinkel Dapp

The perfect end to a perfect day includes: FRENCH FRIES! Frietwinkel Dapp is the first, organic snackbar in Utrecht. On their menu: fries, three kinds of 'kroketten' and one salad. Another initiative from Dapp bio food is the 'frietfiets': a carrier bike that delivers snacks to parties, weddings and festivals.
