Every year around 88.000 items are found in the cabins. Almost 50% of all stuff is being returned to the owner. The rest stays behind. NS makes sure these products don't get a one-way ticket. Because of this, your mittens can end up in a giant snuffed animal. Designer Meike Sier and her colleagues already made 100 new creations from lost & found items.
In the NS Lost & Found Studio you can also use the sewing machine yourself. During DIY workshops you can turn your own found trash into new treasures. The mail coach also has a store inside where products that are made from NS-materials are for sale. Buy a bird house built from a yellow information billboard. The next stop for house sparrows! All the project's proceeds go to 'Natuurmonumenten'.
The traveling studio also brings, like last year, a curiosity cabinet. Over there, you can admire the weirdest collection of leftovers. For example: a communion dress from the fifties. And the keys that belong to a car where Top Gear fans would die for… You'll see it all at this mini museum!
Yep. NS is always on the way to the next destination.
