Changing textiles

Ooh la la! Algaemy, a project by Blond & Bieber, investigates the potential of micro algae in textile printing. Together with Fraunhofer Institut, the two girls developed a living colour palette that could be used in textile printing.

This biodynamic colour palette changes over time when exposed to sunlight. From green to blue and from pink to red and eventually orange. Every piece of fabric is telling a story over time. "People change - so do textiles."

We get why Algaemy received the Output Award 2014 and is nominated for the DMY Award 2014 and the German Design Award 2015. Hopefully these pictured outfits are available in stores soon, after Blond & Bieber is done collecting prizes.
