Great, back to basic in paradise: no lights, no electricity. Thrown upon your own resources completely. May sound fun for an expensive hipster holiday, but, be honest, not for everyday life. The people of Sumba would certainly welcome life a bit less basic.
The Sumbanese have no access to electricity, cook on smoky wood fires (not healthy at all) and use old and expensive diesel installations to generate energy. All this has to be replaced by sustainable energy sources such as solar energy and hydropower within the next 10 years. This means there’s a job to be done!
Do you want to experience what it’s like to live on this island, do you want to participate in the project and see how the island develops? Then show us why you think you are fit for this adventure. Upload your video or picture on http://www.facebook.com/expeditiesumba and make sure you stand out!
Pay attention: send in your application for expedition Sumba before Thursday 12 June. These people were there in August 2013. Who’s next?
