Tips for a weekend in Rotterdam 2

Earlier we kicked off with tips for future friendly Rotterdam part 1. Today we highlight strawberry proof shops, restaurants and more.

Travel by train (of course) and check out the new central station that was recently opened. This futuristic station has the biggest solar power roof of all stations in Europe. The solar panels cover 10.000 square meters: a bigger surface than a football field!

Concept store GROOS (Schiekade 203) sells art, fashion and design from Rotterdam based artists like our friends from Granny’s Finest and Effio. Visit Dearhunter Vintage for, well, it’s in the name. And don’t forget to stop by & designshop for 3D printed jewelry and lamps from Studio Snowpuppe.

Visit Museum Boijmans van Beuningen for the exposition ‘Wasted Matter’ gives an overview of design that makes use of our material resources in new ways.

Hungry? Grab a veggie burger at Burgertrut or organic fries at Pomms'. Or go local at Uit Je Eigen Stad. They serve homegrown meals, straight from their garden.

BAR, the first traveling bar, is now situated at the Schiekade. Since 2011 they bring livelihood to forgotten areas.

Hotel New York is located where ships used to set sail for North America. The hotel overlooks the Maas and Erasmus bridge and won the Golden Green Key Award in 2013.
