Get cosy in a Mikasi

Get cosy in a Mikasi

In these dark and cold winter days you have to make your home a cosy. How about this beautiful little hide away from design duo Confused-Direction. Play hide and seek in your own ‘Mikasi’.

Mikasi in Swahili means scissors, a tool which suits the Mikasi Sunscreen Tent’s design. The nomadic tent protect you from wind and bright sunshine and it’s made out of extremely durable materials too. The covering of the tent is crafted from Tyvek and the flexible frame is made out of ash wood.

Why not test it out in the garden or go for a little ‘wild’ camping experience in the woods. But, you can also ‘camp’ in your living room, curl your feet up in the tent and read about adventures whilst dreaming away…

It inspired me to build my own ‘Tipi’ for my daughter (and actually for myself too). All you need is 8 bamboo sticks, a piece of fabric you like the look, some rope and some cussions. Not as stunning as the ‘Mikasi’ I’m sure, but just as cosy.

The German designers  Flo and Sascha behind Confused-Direction love designing ‘mit herz und verstand’ (with heart and sense). Check out their eco-friendly ‘Hausboot’ made using locally sourced larch-wood too!
