A building good enough to eat...

Fancy a bite? Of a building that is... Then take a look at Greenhouse - a sustainable pop-up cafe currently based at Campbell's Cove in Sydney Harbour.

Dutch architect Joost Bakker has designed the cafe to be 100% waste free. The building is constructed from old shipping containers and straw bales have been set into a recyclable steel structure to maximise insulation.

As for the edible part... You can enjoy breads, pizzas and pastries made from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The cafe's rooftop terrace takes the form of a herb and vegetable garden and there are strawberry plants growing up the walls of the entrance (nice touch)...

If you don't find yourself in sunny Sydney between now and the end of March, then look out for Joost Greenhouse at the International Furniture Fair in Milan or later this year in Berlin, Budapest and London. Final stop Amsterdam...?
